The cashew apple, also called a “false fruit”, develops with a swelling of the cashew fruit itself. Cashew apple is bright red, sometimes yellow in color; when it has completely ripened, it becomes soft, less mouth-puckering and juicy. It can be eaten as a fresh fruit, but preferably it can be made into a refreshing fruit drink. This fruit has high fiber content, an acidic, astringent taste that tickles the throat pleasantly.

Cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL) or cashew shell oil is a natural resin with a yellowish sheen found in the honeycomb structure of the cashew nutshell, and is a byproduct of processing cashew nuts. It is a raw material of multiple uses in developing drugs, antioxidants, fungicides, and biomaterials.  It is used in tropical folk medicine and for antitermite treatment of timber.

The bottom end of the cashew apple attaches to the cashew nut, which is encased in a shell. CASHEW NUT PRICES IN NIGERIA

According to the  Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Audu Ogbeh, the current worth of a tonne of roasted or processed cashew nut for export is $10,000 while the raw cashew nut is sold for $1,200 at the international market.

This simply means, it would be better to process the nuts for export instead of exporting raw cashew in order to benefit from the high cost of cashew nuts.

Palm kernel cracking and separating machine

Palm nut is a part of palm, which includes palm kernel and palm shell. We should crack and separate palm nut and shell, then press palm kernel and get palm kernel oil. This palm nuts cracking and separating machine is specially and newly developed to be used for cracking and separating palm nuts. It consists of palm nuts cracking machine and palm nuts kernel separator machine. 

The palm nuts cracking machine is mainly applicable for dividing the palm kernels into the outer hard shell with high efficiency. The separating machine is for separating the palm nuts kernels from the cracked shells clearly and completely. THE USEFULNESS OF PALM KERNEL SHELLS

Palm kernel shells  PKS) are the shell fractions left after the nut has been removed after crushing in the Palm Oil mill. Kernel shells are a fibrous material and can be easily handled in bulk directly from the product line to the end use.

Palm kernel shells is considered like a natural pellet and an high grade solid renewable fuel for burning, as received both in co firing with steam coal or burned at biomass power plants, usually blended with other grades of biomass, like wood chips.
